Performance Measurements

The most important reason for measuring performance is to improve performance.

"If you can't measure it, you can't improve it."

Measuring the performance of an organization can be a large and complex task. Performance measurements can help or hinder an organization's ability to perform, depending on how measurements are developed and utilized.

Performance measurements should facilitate the management control process by which managers assure that resources are obtained and used effectively in the accomplishment of the organization's objectives. As a result, performance measurements must be designed on a company or situation-specific basis, reflecting the company's objectives, strategy, organizational infrastructure, and management. As a company changes over time, its choice of performance measures may also change.

BDG has successfully assisted numerous companies in developing and implementing effective performance measurements.

We design performance measurements based on operational activities and directly tie them with financial results.

We also develop performance measurement systems, which allow for the flow of accurate information to management. This detailed information can then be linked to the bigger picture of how the company as a whole is achieving management objectives. Performance results are reported on a consistent and timely basis, so remedial action can be taken immediately, rather than after under-performance has become an entrenched way of doing business.
